As part of the opening of the Wellbeing Hub and the new Medical Centre we are running a photography competition on the subject of “Communities Connected”. Our aim is to celebrate the community spirit and how people connect with each other, in order to show what is possible when we all work together.  This will take the form of Photographs that will be exhibited in the Surgery and the Wellbeing Hub, when it opens, in the Spring.

The past two years have been a challenging time for our entire community. Schools and businesses have been closed and routines have been disrupted. People stayed at home and services slowed to a halt. People stopped meeting friends and family members when groups, clubs and gatherings were no longer permitted. Simple tasks even as small as shopping became a problem.

In the midst of all of this, connections have emerged across both age and other boundaries with people doing whatever they can to help their community, in many cases even where the distance between them is large. Through this competition, we are inviting people to use their creativity and imagination to produce some great content showing how the community has come together.

Our community has been pivotal in raising the funds for the Wellbeing Hub project to go ahead. Through grants, donations, fundraising events and online virtual platforms, community efforts have ensured that the money needed for the Wellbeing Hub has been raised. This has all taken place during what must be the most restrictive social environment in the village since the 1940’s.

How can you take part or enter the competition?

We want to make the photographic competition as open as possible to everyone and not just for budding David Bailey’s, so entries really can be about anything related to the topic of “Communities Connected”. The content is as important as the style or technical factors.

The photograph should have been taken by the participant sometime in the last two years and should demonstrate the theme of “Communities Connected”.

Your images can be taken on any device, shot in any style – be black & white or colour – and approached from any angle you feel is best. Creative responses are encouraged.

To enter, click the link below to register and upload your entry (only one per person). The closing date for entries will be Friday 20th May 2022.

The winner will be announced on Friday 10th June. All winning entries will celebrate the coming of a new era for the patients of our Surgery.
