The Hub's for you

This video, which was taken at our Taste of the Hub event on 17 September 2021, and the photographs, illustrate the atmosphere and activities we intend to create in the Hub when it opens

This is what you told us you want to see the Hub used for:

This is what we intend to provide in the Hub, but remember that all of this is subject to change as we evolve over time.  The more the Hub is used, the more we shall be able to understand what is needed and what works well.

  • Many different sort of exercise classes for different ages and abilities, both inside the Hub and using the Green next door.

  • The café will be open in the morning from 08.30 – 12.30 and in the afternoons from 2.30 – 5.30.  There will be lots of different activities going on in the café such as art groups, jigsaw puzzles, board games.  We expect that some groups, such as young parents will meet in the café on a regular basis.  The café will cater for those who are looking for social contact and a chat.  In the afternoon we are hoping to attract students returning from school.  We will consult on ways in which we can support all groups.

  • There will be a wide variety of clubs, activities and classes which will run between 12.30 and 2.30 and 5.30 to 7.00 and whilst the café is open, as appropriate.

  • We shall create facilitated support groups for people with common interests and needs such as book clubs, new parents, bereavement, health cooking and eating, living with medical conditions, carers.

  • We shall train Community Connectors who will be able to advise people o how to access specialist support and that provided by the Council and NHS.  We expect regular visits from Citizen Advice

  • The Doctors will advise of support we can provide for those dealing with mental health issues and will arrange group clinical support as appropriate, it is envisage that the social prescribing team in the Medical Centre will utilise the Hub for services.
